Ronald Weinland - Jesus Will Return May 27, 2012

Yes, we have another date-setter.

Ronald Weinland was, at one time, a minister in the United Church of God, a splinter group of the old Worldwide Church of God founded by Herbert W. Armstrong. Weinland claims to be one of the two witnesses of Revelation 11, his wife, Laura, being the second witness. He has since taken charge of the Church of God - PKG (Preparing for the Kingdom of God) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

As with other offshoots of the old Worldwide Church of God, the Weinland's church holds to numerous false beliefs. Among them,

• A denial of the biblical doctrine of the Trinity
• Belief that the Holy Spirit being a force rather than a Person
• The belief that Christians will become part of the godhead,
• Belief that unrepentant sinners will not suffer in hell, but will be annihilated
• The belief that certain Old Testament laws have carried over to the present day, such as the observance of Feast Days, clean and unclean meats and observance of the seventh-day sabbath
• The belief in a second chance at salvation after the second resurrection

A few years ago Weinland predicted that April 17, 2008 would be the date for the beginning of the Great Tribulation, with the return of Christ in 2011. When that failed he changed the date to May 27, 2012.

In his latest web entry dated April 29 he writes:

As readers of this site know, May 27, 2012, is the time that I have stated as being the date Jesus Christ will return as King of kings over all government on this earth. For such an event to come to pass, the Trumpets of Revelation must all sound, the United States and dollar collapse, the ten nations of Europe arise to fulfill the final revival of the Holy Roman Empire, and Russia with China must unite against Europe in WWIII.

He goes on to tell us that World War III is at our doorsteps and that a nuclear war will destroy a third of mankind.

On November 10, 2011 Weinland was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on charges of tax evasion - another good reason to hope for the fulfillment of that May 27th date. Stay tuned to find out what he has to say on the 28th!

Ronald Weinland has updated his website with a new posted, dated May 23, 2012. In it he discusses the "Falling Away" that took place in 1994. By this he means the split in the Worldwide Church of God when they embraced orthodoxy, and the divisions that resulted afterwards.

Weinland claims that of those who broke away into the over 600 splinter groups - groups that kept to the beliefs of Herbert W. Armstrong, but never joined together as a unit - 63,000 will be reunited as a body again when Christ returns on May 27th. He writes, in part:

Having said all of this, as it has been said so many times before over the past 14 years, we have now come to the end and Jesus Christ is now going to return on May 27th. This event will catch the whole world off guard--even the Church that was scattered. But it will afford a great opportunity to 63,000 baptized people who were scattered after the apostasy to once again be reunited as God's Church into a single organized body and to be given opportunity to live on into the new millennial age of Christ's rule on earth....[Speaking of the days of Noah] It will be the same right up until nuclear weapons begin to be used on the earth. An automatic response of nations will spark immediate retaliation to real or imagined enemies. Such events will be so rapid and have the potential of being so devastating that God must quickly intervene by stopping it as He sends His Son back to this earth to become King of kings....Thank God the millennial reign of Jesus Christ has now come.

Stay tuned to find out how he explains on May 28th why nothing happened. Since, according to Revelation, the two witnesses are supposed to be killed, let's hope this doesn't result in a suicide. More likely the answer will be that it was a "spiritual" nuclear war and return of Christ visible only to the elect!
