How to Thwart the Anti-Equality Bigots
Fighting for Equality
When it comes to dealing with anti-equality bigots, such people can be dealt with swiftly and decisively with several techniques. Follow this simple outline and those narrow-minded homophobes can be cut down to size.
Redefining the Word "Gay"
We've already won this battle! Back in the unenlightened ages the word "gay" meant "merry, happy, lively, cheerful, joyous, playful, jaunty," and other such descriptions. Today it means "pertaining to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person of one's own sex; homosexual."
Today heterosexuals avoid that term because of its association with the homosexual/lesbian community. At the same time it reflects how happy we are to be what we are.
Likewise, we've shanghaied "God's sign," the rainbow and claimed it as our own. Another major victory.
Redefining the Word "Marriage"
This what we're really trying to do. We succeeded with the word "gay" and "pride" and now it's on to "marriage." Traditionally throughout history marriage has been defined as the union of a man and a woman. Read the history books and that's what you're going to see almost always.
We are trying to change that definition to include the union of man to man and woman to woman. This is an uphill battle, but try to convince people that in a marriage it's really love and commitment that counts. That will garner a lot of sympathy because it appeals to peoples' emotions.
So what is our most effective weapon in winning this battle? Civil Rights.
A New Civil Rights Movement
Always associate our movement for equality to the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 60s! Hardly anyone would say they're against the civil rights movement of the Black community.
Mind you, no one has deprived us of the right to vote. No one has prevented us from eating at restaurants that cater only to heterosexuals. No one has forced us to live in Gay-only neighborhoods or apartments. No one is making us sit at the back of the bus. But that's neither here nor there. What's important is that we instill in peoples' minds the idea that the two movements are the same. That will shame people into supporting us - especially those wavering on the edge of deciding which side to support.
Be sure to insist that transvestites have a constitutional right to use any washroom and change room they feel most comfortable using. This is an open, progressive society and the fact that a biological man may be showering or undressing in the presence of an 8 year old girl goes to show how open-minded we are.
Name-Calling
The next tactic is to freely resort to name-calling.
"Homophobes" is a good one to use, as it implies that straight people are afraid of us!
"Bigots" is another effective term because people don't like to think of themselves as prejudiced against any race or minority, and we ARE a minority group for sure.
Since most people who are against us are Christians, "Religious Bigots" is another effective phrase to use.
"Nazis" is an effective weapon to use as well.
Be sure to accuse them of being haters. They'll deny it, but it's sure to keep them on the defensive.
The idea is to plant the thought in their minds that they may actually be one of the above, causing them to reconsider.
Don't forget to make fun of Fox News! If anyone quotes Fox, call it Faux News and make it clear that this is like getting your news from the National Enquirer!
Tear Apart the Bible
Christians love to quote the Bible against us, so tear it apart at every opportunity. You don't really have to know anything about the Bible to be effective. Just tell them it was written by ignorant, uneducated people. Make fun of Christians as ignoramuses (another good word to use) who believe in fairy tales.
Tell them that there are stories like the Virgin Birth, the crucifixion of Christ, etc., that predate the Bible. In reality, those stories either aren't similar or they were written after the time of Jesus Christ, but most Christians are ignorant enough to not know that.
Some Christians won't be deterred and will try to engage you in biblical arguments about homosexuality. A quick search of the internet will lead you to some arguments that prove that the Bible doesn't condemn homosexuality at all! Mind you, the writers of these articles are in the minority and the majority of Greek and Hebrew scholars disagree with those who say homosexuality isn't condemned in Scripture, but just call those scholars ignorant and bigoted and you've won your argument. Never let facts get in the way of our cause!
Quote the Bible
One more technique you can use is to quote the Bible, especially "Judge not, that ye be not judged." That line is very effective in shutting down Christians. I must warn you, though, to keep the quote to just that sentence. Why? Because Christians have been known to use that quote against us. In its entirety the quote by Jesus is "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."
Very few Christians have an understanding of the Bible, but those few who do will also quote other passages that say that they should judge. Just between you and me, they are correct in saying that the Bible doesn't condemn judging, except judging in a hypocritical fashion. I mean, we are judging if we call them names. We are judging if we say the Bible is full of fairy tales. People have to make judgments every day. If we didn't we could never make decisions. We wouldn't know what was right or wrong. But what's important for our cause is to win the argument. So if these Christians do try to show the Bible tells us to judge, just say that it proves that the Bible contradicts itself and can't be trusted.
The End Justifies the Means
Remember that we must win this battle at all cost. The end justifies the means, and so anything that is effective is right! Lie, stretch the truth, use abusive language - do whatever is necessary and we will eventually have equality in our society!!!
Conclusion
As you may have suspected, this article isn't written by a homosexual, but by a Christian. However, the techniques outlined above are used every day by the gay community to try and convince people that an immoral lifestyle should be recognized as normal and given the same marriage privileges as one between a man and a woman. Rather than honestly engaging people in conversation, rather than being willing to do some fact checking, they prefer to sling mud and try to bully and shame people into supporting them. Unfortunately, their techniques have been very effective, even to the point of changing legislation. It's time to reverse that trend.
